I have a fuel injector pump that needs rebuilding. Is there service manuals and parts available? Can it be done without specialized tools and equipment? Is there rebuild kits for fuel injector pumps? Thank you any assistance will be appreciated. The fuel injector pump is on a perkins AD4-203 engine.

I couldn't agree more with bbott. The guts of an injector pump require the skills and cleanliness of a brain surgeon. The facilities include a test bench in which to calibrate the pump and regulator system. To pay for this equipment you'll have to specialize in diesel pumps and nozzles, as the said equipment will cost you the same as a house in suburban Copenhagen! So - if you can't afford a rebuild, try for a salvage unit, they may be OK, both price and function.

Thanks for the advise. I'm rebuilding the engine and figured it was a good time to have the injector pump gone through as it has been leaking fuel. I was suprised when the first shop quoted me $500 - 1,000. I guess I'll call around and get the best deal. Thanks!

Unfortunately, for most folks this isn't a 'do it yourself' job... they usually get sent out for overhaul even in the bigger shops.

Unfortunately, the rebuilds are $$$. I've got a JD400 with a bad injector pump too. :>(
