Mustang connecting rod confusion

I am rebuilding a Massey Harris Mustang with a Continental F-140 engine. This engine was recently overhauled by a previous owner but it was burning oil because it was not rebored with the proper size pistons. According to the repair manual the even and odd connecting rods should be different, however, all connecting rods are marked the same, being part number F400D502. The rods and rod caps are also all marked with the appropriate number (1 through 4)for each cylinder in what appears to be a factory mark. The question is should the odd cylinders have rod number F400D500 the same as the 22 or should I stay with what was there?

Install the rods so the numbers stamped in them (1,2,3,4) are towards the camshaft. Put rod #1 in #1 cyl. #2 in cyl. 2 and so on. The forging number has nothing to do with installation. The rods are offset on the big end to fit the journals of the crank properly. When installed correctly you can look up through the crankcase and see the small end of the rod centered halfway between the inside of the piston wrist pin bosses.
