Slow lift on MF-35

I have a very slow lift on my MF-35 (1963 model FE series mfg in Coventry). Serviced last year: cleaned out pump, replaced fluid, safety valve. Pump makes plenty of pressure - measured with hyd. gage- but lift is very slow. Takes about 7 seconds to move from down to full up position with or without an implement. Also - implement does not hold position when I fully disengage clutch and hyd. pump stops pumping; it leaks down immediately.

Any ideas on whats wrong and what I need to do to fix?

sounds like fluid is going out of lift cylinder almost as fast as the pump can put it in but befoure we get to excited look on the side of the housing just above the runningboard for a lever that moves inside a window. if you see this lever pull it to the top then try the lift again. hope this helps
