I have a 1952 Massey Harris 44 Diesel. I need to know if it is a negitive or positive ground 12 volt system. Thanks in advance.

I have 44d Special that is positive ground. That is the way the owners manual shows.

Should be a positive ground like most other tractors from that era. One way to find out is to hook up the battery with a positive ground, then crank the tractor over with the starting motor. It should show a discharge when the cranking occurs. If it does, then it's hooked up correctly and is a + ground system. If it shows charge, then somehow it has become a - ground system so hook the battery up for a - ground and away you go. I always put a tag on one of the battery cables to remind me (and others) of the grounding system that the tractor has.
