I just replaced the rear crank seal on my MF 135, its the 3cyl. perkins gas engine. I am quite sure I installed it correctly,I took my time and followed the manual as I did not want to split the tractor twice. Got it back together and it leaks as much as it did before. Any ideas?

Thanks, Dav

The seal may be installed right but the surface of the crank may be bad. Did you have a groove or
pitting in the crank surfaceA? It can kill a seal
in minutes. The fix is resurfacing this area.
I just went through this same thing. The pan could
be leaking and is a "easy" thing to try first.
There are some seal companies who make a sleve to on the worn surface instead of machining, this means no pulling of the crank.

What you think is a rear crankshaft seal leaking on the AG3-152 gas engine or the AD3-152 diesel is usually the rear pan gasket it is about a 1/4 inch square cork gasket about 10'' long on the ones with the rope seal about 12'' on the ones with the big rubber seal. These gaskets get hard & dry from the heat of the engine & usually start to leak about every 5 to 10 years according to how hard you use the tractor. Email me if you have any question about this

Did you check that the crankcase breather line from the valve cover is not plugged, otherwise motor oil may be blown out thru a perfectly ok seal.
