I can't figger out the hydraulics controles on my MF35X 1964 with frontloader. (Yeah, I can just hear y'all muttering:" Dang Nab Tenderfoot Greenhorn Newbie, but thats me in a nutshell).
Anyway:
I have a "selection valve under the seat to select either 1. OFF (could be By-Pass), 2. Front loader or 3. the Whatchamajigg in the back with arms and chains and links and stuff that goes up and down for some reason.

Next the two handles on the right side:
1. Handle with round grey knob (I'll call it grey handle.
2. The dual "square" thingy that I can lock in a position and move within a limited area. I'll call it square handle.

Lets focus on the front loader.

With the selection valve in the right position, I can move the loader up and down with the square handle, but it sort of goes eihter up or down and there is no "stop".

Now, with the square handle in a sorta stop pos, I can raise or lower the loader with the grey knob, and now I have a stop pos as well. Prob is that it moves up and down ever so s l o w l y!

I realise there is something called "Draft" and "position" , but not beeing an native english speaker nor having grown up on a farm, that doesn't mean mmuch to me. Did I mention that I don't have an operators manual as well?
Pheuww !
For those of you still with me, I have ordered the manual, but I hate to wait so if anybody will help me, I'll be real happy!

I have the same tractor and similar loader arrangement. It sounds as though you have got the whole thing worked out already. I would expect that the "off" position on the selector valve would lock the loader e.g. for transport. With practice you should be able to find the stop position very quickly.

I have a twin spool valve ready to fit to upgrade my system but havent yet fitted it because the old system works pretty well.

Thanks Gavin, but one more question.
With the grey handle it moves up and down slowly. With the square handle, it moves as fast as I want, but there is no "stop" position. How do I control speed with the grey handle?
