A freind has a chance to buy a 202 with a loader and backhoe attached for $3000. It starts and runs fine and all the hydralics work. The clutch and transmission seem to function properly. No noise just won't move. What could it be? Can he get parts for it? Should he buy it?

Also seen in cold weather where it freezes and acts the same way. I get my torpedo heater out and drain the water and it is fine.

Jim -

If the 202 is the same as the 35/65, there is a sliding coupling connecting the transmission output to the differential.

It's pinned to keep it in place. If the pin drops out the coupling can slide and disengage, leaving you sitting.

The coupling also has an overload feature - a machined groove which apparently acts like a fuse and fails under shock load - to protect the more expensive gears in the transmission and differential. I have never seen this happen, but might be a factor.

The coupling is visible through the left or right side covers with the PTO lever and transmission oil level dipstick.

won't move in any gear i assume.

does the pto spin? or rock=arm lift if yes, transmission troubles or less likly bad tooth on ring and pin.

if no clutch problem.

yes you can get parts.

What type of backhoe? condition? motor runs good?
decent condition, sounds good... unless ring gear broken

would like pic of how backhoe attaches to tractor if you purchase machine.
