We have a Ferguson TO 35 and a Massey Ferguson 35. I would like to fix one up to put a finishing mower on the three point lift to mow my yard with. How much difference is there between these two tractors? Which one is more desireable? Both need some work. Also, any suggestions on a mower? Thanks for any comments.

Danny, The 173140 was built in 1960 according to in fo at this site. Check it out it is very useful and had a quick ref guide to print out and carry in your truck.

First of all, there isn't really that much difference other than the sheetmetal unless the transmission is different, I'm pretty sure the multipower transmission was only offered in the MF if it was offered in either, also, if the TO 35 is really early(like mine) it only has a 2000 psi hyd. system, I forget the SN that it changed at, also the TO was offered with bolth single and double clutches, and 2 types of double clutches, I forget the s.n. that changed at too, one question for you, what is in each tractor, if either one has the Continental Z134, it has 34.8 horses, the perkins 3-A-153(?I don't know if thats right) has 38 and the AD 153(?) has 41(or somewhere around there), as far as I know, all are at the flywheel, I would say that nither is more disireable, In my own opinion, I'd rather the TO because I like the sheetmetal more, parts are avalable for bolth quite readily, even for the really early TO 35's(my 55 is SN 140963, they started at 140001 in 54 which was the first year, 140006 in 55)through your M F dealer.
