Is this a gas or diesel engine? according to my book they made a 3cyl. Perkins diesel engine and also a 3cyl. Perkins gas engine for the same tractor. The diesel engine is rated at 37.8 PTO HP and 33.6 drawbar HP. The gas engine is rated at 37.5 PTO HP and 32.4 drawbar HP.

According to what I've heard the MF 135 diesel has 47 hp. That is what the manufacturer announced. I assume that your number were taken from the Nebraska test results. It seems that these results are not correct sometimes. There was a thread in the Fordson forum a little while ago and it came to same conclusion. Maybe the numbers were made to look bad in comparison to American tractors.

Dont forget the continental 4 cyl.
there are 3 or 4 different engines used in the 135. 3 in the 135 deluxe and 1 in the regular 135. I'm not sure of the difference.

Gas & Diesel (3cyl. Perkins) are the same flywheel H.P. (42) and drawbar H.P (33) If you want specs out of the factory service manual I'll post or send them to you . Jack
