I have a '64 MF 35 that the 3-pt. lift is slowing down on. Anyway, I want to clean the filter and see if that may be the problem. My question is can I get to the filter through the PTO lever hatch or do I have to pull the top cover off the rearend? I've been told both so I am asking for more input. Anything else I should watch out for? Thanks to all!

You can access the filter through the PTO handle cover. Drain enough oil, better drain it all and replace with new. remove the cover and the filter is just inside towards the front. It is a brass screen held on with a nut and cover. The nut should be saftey wired. If it is not, be sure you do wire it. It can come loose in time and create a high dollar repair to the system. I know, it did it to me! Also Check Big Dean's MF repair tip page. I replaced my 'puter and don't have the link on this one. Post a message to him on this board and he will post the link. Jim
