J@D Productions has a overhaul video explaining each step of overhauling the whole hydraulic system. They go into great detail on each step. I overhauled my TO35 and it works great and will hold up an implement over night and it didn't cost all that much to replace everything needed. It wasn't that big of a job either. It took the better part of two days. The video costs $25.00 and worth every penny.... Address: Po Box 38... Metamora, MI 48455

Hello, Neighbour -

The leak-down is the nature of the beast.

Three probable sources: blown o-rings (if the lift is smooth, rule this out), the rings on the lift piston (like a car piston, always lets some oil through - normal, and seldom a problem), and the 3 washers on the control valve mechanism.

These are a precision fit on the control valve spool, and wear over time. Replacing the valve assembly reduces the rate of settling, but never eliminates it.

If your system has lots of lifting power, the pump and seals are obviously ok; I'd suggest living with it, and always park with the lift down for safety.

GREAT tractors!

A MF lift will usually beat the driver to the ground when the engine is switched off. I understand they are built this way. I've never seen one of the old ones that didn't leak down. Moye
