My tractor is low on fluid in the power steering reservoir. The manual calls for a Permatran 111. I called the local MF dealer and was told after much discussion just to put hydraulic fluid in it and not power steering fluid that you can get at the local parts place.

This steering pump does not run off the hydraulic system. Therefore I don't understand. I don't want to ruin something.

Anyone out there have a suggestion or know what you use here?

Jerry the same oil you run in the transmission is what Massey recommends for the power steering. The dealers got a service bulletin on that way back in 1978 telling us not to use Dextron oils in the steering that the seal would not stand the Dextron oil to use M1129A which is Perm-A Tran III now days.

I thought that M1129A was 85-90 gear oil. At least that's what my dealer said! Any thoughts? Mike

Mike if your dealer told you that M1129A was 85/90 gear oil he told you wrong M1103 is a 80/90 Trans/Hyd Mineral oil. M1127 was for the tractor with wet brakes Perm-A-Tran III is now used in place of M1129A, M1127 & M1110

Big Dean;
Does this steering fluid info apply to my 1957

Thank you.

Roger
The service bulletin was for any tractors that used the M1110 oil in the power steering I think your TO35 originally did use M1110 oil in the steering.
