I checked out a MF65 today, its serial number is SGM 658439. The dealer that had it had a book that dates it as a '58 model. This tractor has a Continental gas engine, and when it was started the old gal put out some black smoke, no blue smoke came out that I saw. Does this indicate the carb is overloading? The guy didn't choke it until after he had cranked it about 20 seconds or so, so I figured the black smoke came from it being slightly flooded. Is this an accurate assumption? The Massey had one new rear tire, and the other one was about 95% and looked to be no more than a year or two old. Tranny was an 8 speed, and the PTO is supposed to be independent. It is equipped with power steering. The tractor is in need of some cosmetic assistance, as it has the original paint and needs painted, needs the lights replaced (one is missing), and needs a new seat. Current asking price is $2200, is this good, bad, really ugly?
