a 1/2" thick by 3.660" dia. plate with 5/8" hole
in center. used 5# slide hammer, pulled out no
problem. Used same assy to reinstall new ones.

Steve. The liners on a 65 diesel are dry. Do not attempt to remove them yourself unless you have a press capable of upto 30 tons. I've just renewed my liners in my 65 diesel and took the block to a machine shop. It's not a job to tackle at home.
Regards,
Pete.

If is a wet sleeve it will remove very easy. I just replaced them in my 65 gas that had wet sleeves by making a puller out of a redi bolt and a few pieces of heavy plate and it pulled right out of there. I almost think you could drive out with a hammer, but you need the puller to push them back in. If it is a dry sleeve....get a puller or take to a shop. I have heard that they can be a mess!
