I am almost finished restoring my 1964 MF135. I will be painting the last of the sheetmetal today. It is #207 off of the line out of 1909 for the year and it has been difficult to get reliable info on the original 135 paint scheme. I am painting mine in 1970 scheme as I have found on the Operators Manual for that year. I am using the same colors used on all of these tractors from late 1957 through about 1972. There was a change in shade of the red color in the early 1970s. Generally, most of the cast iron parts are Metallic Flint Grey and the Sheetmetal is Red. The front wheels are all red and the rear wheel centers are red and the rims are silver. Sometime around the early 1970s they painted the front wheels two tone to match the rear wheels but I don't think that that lasted for very long. The seat pan is red. The fenders are red. the lower sheetmetal parts on the front end are metallic flint grey on the late 135s but I think that on the earliest models the sheetmetal was all red. The grill was silver mist with black horizontal stripes starting at the top of the grill and alternating silver/black with black at the bottom. When I say silver mist, that was the official color for the grill and the rear rims but I have been using the metallic flint grey and it turns out great. I have been stripping my tractors down to bare metal and then priming with DuPont Variprime which etches the metal and adheres better than anything I have ever used before. I then topcoat with an Acrylic Urethane Enamel made by Martin Senour and obtained at Napa Auto Parts. They have the proper color cards for most tractors. I have found this to be an extremely resiliant, tough paint job and the gloss is incredible. My father thinks it is too glossy to be practical as the reflection is a bit bright on a sunny day for six or eight hours sitting on the tractors. This is my fourth MF paint job; three TO35s and this MF135. I hope this helps.
