MF Front Axle Support Broken

While working on my MF 165 I noticed the front axle support assembly was cracked in three places in the area of the pivot pin lock screw and along the side where the main steering shaft goes through. A small chunk actually fell out where the pivot pin lock screw was. Upon further inspection there seems to be a lot of "play" in the axle assembly bushings and between the axle and the axle support assembly. I'm going to have the support repaired or find another one at a salvage yard. It appears I will also need new axle bushings, shims, and a new axle pivot pin. Is there anything else I will need to do the repair? Also what do I need to look out for in making the repair so it does not crack again? Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem with a 165 that we had years ago. The supports are kind of expensive, check the junkyards. The supports from a 65 will also fit, that is what I used. What happened with ours was the pivot pin for the front axle worked its way out till it was only supported on one side and so had no strength. After you replace it I'm sure you'll keep a good eye on it like I did.
