About two years ago bought a new FI pump for my Massey 265. All was great until recently when trying to start, it appears the shut-off sticks not allowing tractor to start.
Had some dirty fuel, found when cleaning all screens/filters, added fuel treatment, cleaned all real well, but still wouldn't start.
Finally tapped (moderately lightly) on FI pump body and the darn thing started. Now every time it requires the FI pump to be tapped before will start. Runs great.
Anyone with any solution or troubleshooting assist?

This happens quite often on CAV fuel injection pumps. Water, moisture, will will gather in the cover portion of the fuel injection pump. This will cause rust. Inside this cover is the control mechanism. There is a small metal strip that works with the fuel shut off lever that gathers rust, causes the metal strip to bind, not allowing you fuel to be turned on. This is easy to repair, first obtain a new gasket, remove the cover and clean rust from cover, also clean the metal strip.

Hey Tom, does it have a manual fuel shutoff (you pull a knob out to kill the tractor) if it does and your leaving it pulled out when you cut it off it will cause it to stick after an extended period of time, if none of this is the case it would have to be a weak return spring in the pump.
