Does anyone know how many Massey-Ferguson 50's were manufactured or where I can find out? I would also like to find out where they were made. I understand they were principally sold in Canada but am not certain.

Have you checked you hydraulic fluid level? Sounds like there is air in your system. The air needs to be purged out of the system by cycling the cylinder up and down the total travel. The system should be main a full level through this process.
