I have a TO 20 Ferguson with the continental 4 cyclinder. I recently did some work on the head(valve job, new guides). After I got it running I noticed that the tubes that the push rods travel through leak oil. Are these tubes pressed into the head? Is there a way to seal these tubes from leaking? Or am I looking at replacing the entire head. Is this common on these 4 cylinders? I have completely overhauled the engine(mains, rod bearings, rings, oil pump, water pump) and I figured everything was in order. Any info that I can get would be much appreciated. thanks, tom

Hi Tom from Fred
I ran into this problem on my tractor too and as I recall it's kinda common with the Continental engine. I used an epoxy that mixed up kinda thick and put it on the worn through hole after I cleaned it good and it never bothered me again.
I guess if you had the head off, you could put a little braze on it if you're real good with an acetylene torch, but, you don't want any sows titties (gobs of braze) on the inside where the pushrod runs. To be safe, you probably ought to use the epoxy unless someone has a better suggestion. Fred from the Mung Factory
