I have a MF175 diesel with PTO trouble. I can use the PTO with my mower for about an hour. Then it seems to disengauge and kind of free-wheel with no power. I have moved the lever to all different positions and nothing happens. My 3pt. hitch and lift work fine. Is the PTO hydrolically or mechanicaly coupled to engine? Where should I start? Thanks.

I have a MF165. They usually have a dual clutch, one for driving the wheels and the other for driving the PTO. Your PTO clutch may be slipping.
One way to check for slippage is to put it under a good heavy load, and if the mower slows, then its slipping. This can be done by running the tractor at a higher ground speed through tall weeds/brush.

If it is the clutch, you'll have to split the tractor in half and replace the clutch. I've done that on mine.
