I SET THE PULLER UP LIKE YOU DID BUT FOR A HAMMER YOU NEED SOMTHING WITH A LOT MORE MASS THAN JUST A SLEDGE HAMMER I USE A OLD TRACTOR AXEL THAT IS 3" IN DIAMATER AND ABOUT 40" LONG. I USE IT LIKE
A BATTERING RAM AND STRIKE THE END OF THE AXEL AND
KEEP DRAWING ON PULLER BOLTS AFTER A FEW STRIKES.
THE SHAFT IS HEAVY ENOUGH THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO SWING IT HARD AND YOU DO LESS DAMAGE THAN WITH A HAMMER.

I can't mentally visualize the
hub on a MF22.. but in general for
removing stuck hubs on other equipment

Very gentle heating from the outside in
has always done the trick for me.

Try heating the axle and then cool with water. I have parts book and operators and repair manual. Also have hydraulic equipment book for all models of that era. If you would like copies email me.
