I have a problem with my Tractor brakes the drive shaft oil seals are leaking oil onto the shoes, is it a big job to replace the seals, does the gearbox need splitting or is the seal outboard in the half shaft housing.
I hope sombody out there can help My tractor has been in my family since new.
Regards Mike

I did this job on one side of my MF35 recently. The inner seal is accessed by taking out the axle half shaft. Remove wheel, brake rod, brake drum then the 12 or so nuts on the end of the trumpet housing. Axle shaft/brake assembly then pulls out. Inner seal is visible in end of trumpet housing.

Thanks Gavin
Do the wheel bearings have to be removed from the half shaft to change the oil seal or is it inboard of the bearing, I have cleaned up the shoes and put it all back together this afternoon as I need the tractor tomorrow, and I could not get new seals till after Christmas, but if the seal goes on without removing the bearings I will get them ordered and do the job in 2000.
thanks for you help
Regards Mike.
