Hi Folks, just got my first tractor and from what I am hearing is that this IMT is supposed to be a knock-off of a MF tractor. I have the 542 deluxe, dose anyone know what MF model this is supposed to be? Does anyone know where the boys with the IMT tractors hand out at? Any information that someone can give me about this tractor would be great. Thanks in advance for your help. Paul in Mo.

IMT (industria mesina tractoria or something)were in Yugoslavia and are now apparently fairly defunct. The IMT 539 was essentially identical to the MF 35. There was also one I think based on the MF 65 but with squarer styling. This may be what you have.

Mule Train went to the website, a little bland but did get some history and did e-mail them. Gavin, as of Nov. 97 they seemed to be still in operation, but could now be defunct as you mentioned. From what I have learned in only a few short weeks, it seems that they quit shipping to U.S. in 92. I will check out the MF 35 and 65 and see if either is like my 542. Thanks to both of you gentlemen for your help.. Paul

A few more details. The 542 is a an IMT 'MF35' but with their own design of transmission with syncromesh gears.

Gavin, thanks for the additional info. I have only been able to find a pix of the 35 and not the 65. But felt that the 35 looked alot like my 542. Your confirmation is greatly appreated. Do you think that if I bought service manuals (electrical and mechanical) for the MF35 that they would be helpful to me? Again thanks for the help, I am starting off from zero info.

Paul

The national distributor for the IMT tractor was Robison and Grissom Tractor Company in Guntown, Mississippi. They now distribute TAFE tractors nationwide, but they may still have some manuals or can tell you which manuals are the best!

Phone # is 662-869-1028, ask for Doug!

Phil in MS, thanks for the tip on Robison & Grissom Tractor Co. Talked to Doug this morning and he asked if I would call back a few hours later so he would have time to look for manual. Just got off of the phone for 2nd time and he is mailing out manual COD for very resonable price. This is working out great. Thanks for jumping in and telling me about above tractor co. This internet stuff is great for sharing info. Again Thanks..

Anything that relates to the Perkins 3/152 engine e.g. later MF35 would be of some use.

Gavin, thanks for your help. It looks like the info that Phil gave is panning out and I wont have to try to get next best manual. I am a electrician by trade and can work on electricals without manual, but easier with manual. And the mechanical stuff I will have to get help with all but the most simple stuff. As I have said in other reply back to Phil, Thank you very much for helping me with getting information about this tractor. Someone else was telling me that we have a trade embargo with yugoslavia and he could not get any manuals from the factory. Thanks Gavin for your help.
