I am servicing an MF 35 tractor hydraulics, I cannot remove the shaft that connect power from the gear box to the wheel differential thus I am not able to take out the Hydraulic pump. This is an old tractor MF 35, using brake drum instead of the disc brake. Do I have to seperate the tractor apart to remove the shaft?

I am made to understand that to service the MF 165 with the disc bracke, you do not have to seperate the tractor.

Any advice.

CULLA TO REMOVE THE HYDRALIC PUMP YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE LIFT TOP , PTO SHAFT ,DRIVESHAFT COUPLER ,TWO PUMP MOUNTING PINS. PUMP WILL THEN BE ABLE TO BE REMOVED THROUGH LIFT TOP OPENING.

Hello, culla -

Gil's comments are valid once you get the drive coupler off, but if I read you correctly you can't get down to the pump yet because of that coupler.

There's normally a cotter pin through the coupler, about the size of a 2 1/2" nail which holds it from sliding. It may have been broken off so it's not vsible, but you should be able to see the holes. If you can get a nail clear through the holes, the shaft should slide (forward, I think) to collapse so you can remove it.

Hope this helps.

In my MF50 the PTO shaft drives the hyd pump. The shaft can be removed through the back of the tractor w/o splitting the housng. Also on either side of the housing, there is a pin held by two bolts that the pump rides on.(outside)
