Where would you locate the serial number on a possible M.H. 33? The only numbers I have found so far are the engine,F140 43501 and front axle, 761 917ML, would any of these numbers tell if this tractor is a 33 er what ever?
Thanks for any help. Randy S.

I think you've got a MH30, not a 33. The 30's supposedly used a Continental flathead 162 cubic inch motor (and would be designated F162 before the serial number on the motor). If you have an engine that starts F140, then a couple of possibilities exist:

1. You have a 33 in which somebody has transplanted an Continental flathead 140 cubic inch engine into. They might have got this from anywhere (other tractor, welder, etc.). In Masseys, this was easy to do because the engine and clutch was not really 'part' of the tractor as such (was a separate unit really).
2. You have a 30 with a 140 cubic inch flathead engine that, I think, didn't come with the original tractor. The Continental 4 cylinder flatheads were all the same, other than bore sizes, hence the differences in cubic inches.

If you do in fact have a 33 with an overhead valve engine with an F140 starting the serial number then that is very strange. As I mentioned the engine in the 33's was 'about' 200 cubic engines and was an overhead valve. See ya. Hope this helps.

Sitting on the seat, look down on the transmission between the two lids on the left. Should be a number there.

Mile 15 on the Alaska Highway. Man, I could of dropped in 34 years ago in the summer of '65 on my way to a summer job in Whitehorse. I'll bet the tractor was in the area then as most of them don't stray too far from home. Is the 'start' of the highway (mile posts) Ft. St. John, or Dawson Creek? I forget. Do they still have those huge Witte single-cylinder generators at every gas station? I doubt it, they all probably get transmitted power by now. Let me know what's happening up your way. I live in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
