The hydraulic system on my tractor does not seem to function correctly at all times. Here is the symptoms/problem,can somebody help. The hydraulics seem to labor on heavy loads such as a brush hog.sometimes it will not lift at all. i have noticed that if i partially raise an implement, stop, then continue that the system will not respond (lift to full up position)until i have completely lowered the the implement to the ground.I have also noticed that the system seems to operate better when the response lever is set to slow as opposed to fast.On rare occasions i have heard a faint noise that sounds similar to striking metal with a hammer.to my knowledge this system has never been worked on and aprox.2000 hours are on the meter.I have better than average mechanical skills, equiped with an I.T. manual, owners manual,& a MF Workshop manual. What,if any diagnostic checks can i perform prior to going to the dealer for help? Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Try the synchronizing adjustment about the third section of the hydraulics unit in the I&T manual. The heavy load of the bush hog may be causing it to try to float. Check and clean the hydraulic pump filter.

When positioning an implement make sure the draft lever is at the top limit of motion.

Tom-My loader looks just like Tylers except the controls are mounted on the loader support on the right side. There is no name or data plate that I can find. Mine has an aux pump on the front of the engine, I also have an interchangeable bucket or fork lift. The whole assm is very heavy and makes the tractor a little bit awkward. Power steering is a necessity. The Z134 engine in my MF50 is completely different on the bottom side(oil pan, lower casting, etc) from the Z129 in the 2135. Other than that they look alike. I understand that the numbers are the displacement. These are Continental engines.

All my neighbors have compact Kubota tractors, so I can't ask them these kind of questions.

Todd,
before you tear everything down, check the lift cylinder/piston for severe wear which will cause problems such as you describe. This can be tested by a pressure test per the manual. I hope this is your problem, it's a lot easer to fix. Good luck.
