TO-30 front axle/radius rod help

I've been working on the Ferguson TO-30 I bought this summer a little at a time, and I started looking at the steering and the front axle.

Seated on the tractor, the axle shifts slightly depending on the direction you turn the the wheel. It isn't a lot, but noticeable.

In looking at the radius rods, they seem to be moving forward at the rear attachment points. Is there a preferred way to reduce this play? Or is this pretty normal?

Suggestions appreciated! Thanks!!

Jim

Jack in NB was right on. and the TO-30 parts are not too expensive either.

Hi Jim -

An old instructor from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (and Massey guru) told me to file a bit off the retaining caps to tighten them up.

Works for us!

The axle pivot pin and bushing may also be worn. They're not difficult to replace. Parts for the 35 are about $31 and $6 US from our Canadian supplier; I think the 30 is similar.

Good luck!

Jack
