Need advice on my hydrolic lift

My three point lift has been slowing down lately and
I have to keep the engine rev'd pretty high to keep my bushhog mower up. Guess it's time for an overhall?
I'm wondering if it's better to buy a whole new pump
or just a repair kit at half the price? Can I access
the pump to do the work by removing the seat and the plate
under it or do I have to crack the tractor in half?
Is there a filter for the oil that needs changing or cleaning
in there? Lastly is this a job I should be contemplating doing on
my own at all?

I forgot to mention that it's a massey harris furgeson 50 with
a continental gas engine, I don't know what kind of pump is
inside.

I'm only familiar with the later MF-135. There probably is a filter. Its probably just inside the PTO shifter cover on the left side of the housing. You will likely spill a lot of oil if you don't lower the oil level a couple gallons before you take that cover off. In the 135 its contained between two cups and the top cup has a large fold down wing nut

The pump probably can be removed by removing the seat and the top without splitting the tractor though it may be easier to split the tractor.

Not holding good except when turning fast could be oil too thin, pump too worn, a leak, or something messed up in the control system. The MF hydraulics control the lift operation by controlling the pump intake valves. On the MF-135 there's a synchronization adjustment that affects all that that's accessible after lowering the oil level and taking off the cover with the speed adjustment and the dip stick. You need a shop manual such as the I&T manual available from YT or CT to get those details. There's a gold mine of other adjustments in that manual.
