The power steering on my MF 85 is weak at low speeds. When rpm,s are high power steering is ok. Does any one have suggestion?

WHOA! DONT DO THAT. PULLING STUMPS WITH THE TRACTOR IN REVERSE IS A BAD SITUATION. THE FORCES THAT RESULT FROM THIS OPERATION WILL RESULT IN A ROTATIONAL TORQUE THAT COULD MORE EASILY LIFT THE FRONT END UP AND OVER.

Jim: Years ago I had an 85 and keeping the steering working right was a real chore. I would say all you can do is make sure the right oil is in it and pray to God you don't have to take it apart. I did and it's probably the main reason I got rid of the tractor. Eleven zillion little wee pieces and they have to be in real good shape. Good luck. Tom.

Jim: I have a Super 90 that acts the same way as well. I did track down a used pump from a salvage yard in Iowa as well. Eiklenborg Salvage is the name of the place, and they are in Aplington, Iowa. They have had 88s and 90s around the yard and they sell a good number of pumps. They are a little slow at times getting back to you, and they mailed my pump to the wrong address, but I got it for $225.00, so I can live with a few slight mistakes. There is also a place in North Dakota that rebuilds pumps, but again, I can't think of their name. Keep an eye out on the web for them. If I can think of their name I'll try to I also have a MF dealer here in Tennessee that will sell me a pump for $700.00, or so he says. I do know for a fact that a pump from either an 85,88, or Super 90 will fit and work on your tractor. Let me know if I can be of service.
