: My MF 65 has a tractormeter, but no cable is attached. : Three questions: : 1.) Where does the tractormeter attach to the transmisson or engine? : 2.) Does it take a garden variety automobile speedo cable or something special? : 3.) Since the tractormeter itself hasn't spun since this 40 year old tractor hit 1820 hours, should I lube it at all before reattaching said cable? : Thanks! Don't know for sure. In my MF-135 with a Continental gas engine the tach cable goes to a gear box on the back of the generator. Does your 65 have a similar engine and has it been converted to an alternator? If that's the case about the only thing you can do is get an automotive solid state tach from J.C. Whitney and mount it in the original hole. Perkins engines had a tachometer connection on the end of the camshaft. Generally the cable is ordinary speedometer cable for the core, but the ends of the shell might be special. The MF parts book for your tractor should be clear about the connections and their locations. Gerald
