MASSEY HAS BEEN WORKING ON ONE FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS NOW THROUGH R&D MOST OF THE PROTOTYPING HAS BEEN DONE IN WESTERN EUROPE AND MAINLY AUSTRALIA. AGCO DEALERS AND MANY AGCO EMPLOYEES DONT EVEN KNOW. I LUCKED ONTO SOME PICTURES OF THEM FROM MY AGCO TERRITORY REP. I'LL FIND THEM AND SEND THEM IF YOU WISH. ITS BASICLY A 8160MF WITH TRACKS.

Agco Corporation has just finished an agreement with Caterpillar to make the Cat ag tractor for Cat.Maybe Agco has decided to paint a few MF red since they own Massey Ferguson. Agco also purchased the design, assembly, and marketing of the Cat Challenger.

That sure don't make sence because John Deere bought the challanger line from Cat. You should have chased him down.

John Deere did not purchase the Challenger line from CAT. Caterpillar sold the new MX Challenger line to AGCO. CAT took John Deere to court in a very lengthy battle because John Deere copied the rubber track idea with hydraulic steering from CAT. That court battle I think was settled out of court with John Deere paying Caterpillar some outrageous lump sum of money. Which makes me mad because even if CAT would have won, John Deere is still reaping the benefits of CAT's design. Oh well...anyway, I still don't know why CAT wanted to sell that product line....CAT is the second highest recognized product in the world, with Coca-Cola being #1. CAT said they wanted to expand their agricultural offering, they thought that an alliance with AGCO would be the way to go to expand their line....All that means is that now there will be AGCO equip. offered at CAT dealers....Whooptie doo. I think CAT took a hit by selling the Challenger to AGCO. Just my 2 Cents....well maybe 8 cents worth. Mr. J

Cat sold the Challenger line to AGCO because they wanted to work on the construction end of their business where the economy is much better and they can make more money. Farmers will have more access to the Challenger though the AGCO stores than the CAT stores which alot of times are out of the way for farmers. Besides, how many Challengers can broke farmers buy? Could be a smart move by Cat, maybe they saw the writing on the wall.
