The paint on the tractor is oxidized or faded...Has anybody had any luck using rubbing compound? Will it bring out the red again or will I have to repaint? I know repainting would be the best option, but it's also the most spendy...
The color is starting to look more pink than red.

Mine's like that too. I have some surface rust so I'm going to repaint this spring. My guess is the paint would come back OK but if you keep it outside it'll fade again. After all the hassle painting I'm going to keep mine inside. Probably as old as these machines are and they've been kept out in the weather, the paint will be a bit thin.

If you're interested in painting you can still get the decals from the dealer. Also I've seen 175 decals from Walt's Tractor parts.

Hope your tractor is running as well as mine...Bob

I was cheap. Went ahead and used a little rubbing compound & wax. Looks much better, no harm done.
