Just thought I would share this bit of info. I thought my p/s pump was out because even with the loader m/t it was all I could do to barely turn the sterring wheel, but as a last resort I called my Massey PARTS GUY and he and I have the same tractor, he told me that sometimes the system needs to be kinda burrped and to turn the wheel all the way to the left then back all the way right then to center, take out filler plug and top off. It worked like a charm and the steering is like new.

Tim, I run these tractors and years ago after a tractor split/ engine overhaul I didn't have p/s and finally figured it out with the help of a Massey Tech. The p/s pump on that tractors cost $300.00 +.(FYI) Valu-Bult (1-888-828-3276) said they can get them for $200.00 new.

I have an MF 35 with a PS problem. I will try this trick of yours "burping" and let you know how it works. Turning wheel lock to lock and then topping off the fluid? sounds too simple, too good to be true...but worth trying. Thanks.

I have an MF 40B Industrial, and when I first got it. There were times when i was bush hogging my pasture, that I would turn a sharp corner, and then the tractor would not want to turn back. I thought that there was some major problems that I was running into, even thought that maybe the seals on the P/S cylinders was going bad, but since i've been using it regularly it seems to have corrected itself? May be the same thing???
