way back when are m-f dealer was around we had ski whiz snowmobiles on our farm. we eventually moved over to polaris,he sold these as well, but i really wanted one of the last m-f sleds this dealer stocked. it was a liquid cooled black rocket that embarressed my tx440 soundly.i got to drive it once when we were having some service work done and was alway intrigued from then on. i have since found out this was a line of sleds from minnesota that scorpoin bought and massey rebadged as their own.any more info out there?????

The Cyclone started out as a Brutanza Brut.I live in Brooten,MN (home of the Brut). It was the first liquid production snowmobile.Built in Brooten 72-74.LC44 triple and LC29 twins were built.Sold to scorpion. Still built as the Brut, 340 and 440's.Scorpion built them for Massey as Cyclone 76.The first year they won alot of races.Caused a call for the Ban of the Brut in races. They were production machines so they raced.By the next years companies had time to step up to this new design of production racer. As many said they were ahead of there time.Still alot of the Brut ideas in use today.

Hey Rusty, I don't know a whole lot but can add something to your question. About the time Ski Whiz became poular in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973 I was running a Skidoo Olympic..15 horespower!!!In 1974 I bought a 440TNT and had the baddest machine in the county...Scorpions were being distributed in our part of Ontario through our local Allis Chalmers dealers and I am not sure of their connection to Massey Fergusson. I have 5 Ski Whiz at the moment..bought two for restoring for fun, ran across one at a farm auction for$25,..then word got out I collected them and I was given one just for taking it off a guy, someone else dropped off a motor and a hood and pretty soon I got a collection, still have the 1974 TNT and it still runs hard, bought a new Skidoo Formula in 1995 and thats where I stand. Now Ski Whiz are most easily identified by year according to the tail lights, one tail or two ,large round or small I have a '71, two 72's and a '73, and one I'm not sure about. Tillotson carb kits are still available for them and I have one restored and running. The one I got for $25 is going to make a beautifull sled when it is retored, its all there in good shape but needs the restoration treatment. I have occasionally heard of an M-F dealer that still has a few parts but you can't count on that. There are lots of interchangeble after market parts ie coils, carbs and kits boogey wheels, tracks, braking systems. An old neighbour of mine (82) has a scorpion sitting in his barn that he bought new back in the early 70's, tarped and dry...now there would be a project...the latter SkiWhiz were more streamedlined 1975-76 and were not so boxy looking, I missed out on one that I could have had cheap but I was about a week late in looking into it and it was gone...I guess we both live in Snowmobile country and thats what make them easy to find..hope you find that Cyclone...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Yes, back in the day the 440 cylone liquid cooled was a bad mama jama on the track, but if you could find one that still ran you were one lucky guy.I am also looking for one and we are a dealer and we can still get a good amount of parts for even the cylones and storm and whirlwind's and don't forget the old ski-whiz's get back too me as soon as possible

I have a MF cyclone 440 that i am currently restoring I need a few parts choke cables, decals, kill switch. I also have a few questions on restoring the machine, What color is the suspension, is there any kind of air box, I would also like to see some pictures of a complete sled as well.
