Hi, My neighbor (nice old fellow) has an MF 35 that the brakes are not working on. I need to go help him but need to know how to get to the brakes and what is usually the cause? Maybe worn linings, adjustment, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Eric N.

Eric: I dont know much about tractors, but I agree with roger on this one. common prob with MF 35 is axle seals leaking out onto the brakes. If that is his situation then the course of action should be obvious. Replace the shoes but fix the seal or the problem will return. Orlando

Even though the brake shoes on my 35 were nearly
as thick as new, adjusting didn't help since they
were saturated with oil. New shoes made a world
of difference.
Good luck
Roger

The first step is to try adjustment. They are just like car brakes to adjust.

Glad to know im not the only one out there with brake problems, iv'e a 1959 FE35 industrial tractor, not much diffrent to the standard tractor exept the brakes which are twin shoed, one for the hand brake and individual wheel brake which is linkage operated and the main back wheel brake which is oil opperated.
when I restored it about 10 years ago a brake manafactura relined both sets but as time has gone on thay need replacing again.
Now my problem
both brake hubs are refusing to come off, ive tried hitting them, heating them and using a puller but to no avail, as there is no replacement hubs for them now has any one out there any advise.
sorry to jump on this reply posting but this section is new and on brakes
