I'm looking at a '59 MF 85 to buy. It has live/ground PTO, 2 aux. hydraulics, power steering, high/low trans., hydraulic 3pt cat. 2, and diff. lock.

It runs very well and everything works, it has been repainted. My question is, "is it a fair price for $3500.00 and how hard is it to get parts for?" Thanks for any input.

i would advise you to find a mf90 instead, the mf85 and the mf88 were a piece of crap at least up here in western canada, the 90 on the other hand was literally bullet proof and oodles of them are still going strong up here. GO WITH SOMETHING ELSE PLEASE,,

Don, I have owned a 59 model 85 for about 18 months. Before we sold the farm we used fairly large equipment, 140+ tractors, so the 85 was about the size of our smallest utility tractor. Mine came out of Arkansas where it was used for the previous 21 years to put up hay. Approx. 70% of the parts I went after are still available from AGCO including a reprint of the shop manuel, key switch, starter button, throttle friction disk, etc. You may want to ask your AGCO dealer about Heritage Replacement Parts. These are replacement parts that are as close as possible to factory original. I have been able to tap into the local auto parts stores for engine parts including rings, head gasket, valve cover gasket, and a few other gaskets. Mac Tractor Parts (Oklahoma) has been my supplier for used parts that are no longer available. I have gotten things like an original front hub, valve push rods, hood ornaments, exhaust manifold clamps, and other hard to find parts. You will want to speak with Johnny. Once I put in new rings and did other neglected maintenance the tractor has been a pleasure to use. I paid 3k for mine.
Just a curosity question though. What is the serial number on your 85? The reason I ask is I was not aware that differtial lock was offered until later. I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

Mike
