MF Fuel Efficiency

I just bought a MF255 a couple of months ago and have done a little bush hogging and plowed 3-4 acres for some corn.

I was impressed with the fuel efficiency.

I was talking with a fellow in my hunting club today and mentioned I had bought a MF255.

The first comment out of his mouth was the fuel economy. He had owned one for a number of years. He related a story about he and another fellow that worked together cutting hay on their adjoining farms. The story went that the other fellow had a 4000 Ford and a JD of comparable HP. He commented that the MF would use about 1/2 or a little more of the fuel the JD and the Ford did.

Can these MF tractors be that fuel efficient or is he exagerating?

Even the bigger tractors were good on fuel. I had an 1130 that was turned up and could plow all day on 35 gal. tank of fuel. The 2775 and 2805 liked their fuel though.

These tractors are good on fuel, I have worked them with fords for years pulling the same load and the massy uses a lot less fuel. I have a 35 I changed to propane and it does even better than it did on gas. Gordon
