Does anyone know how I can fix a set of wheels for the rear of a 22 without going to a great expense? I have a friend that has a 22 with wheels that are rusted all the way through the rim. He is open for any suggestions. Does anyone know where replacements can be found? Can we cut the old rims off and weld new ones on?

Thanks
Keith

Last summer I worked on a set of 24" rims from a Case V that were pretty much junk from rust. I had them blasted, then I mig-welded in the smaller bad spots myself, then I cut out any bad larger areas in the flat areas of the rims and welded them up myself, no problems there. Unfortunately, a lot of the biggest rotten areas were on the part of the rim where it was curving both ways. I took the rims to a welder friend and he patched in small slivers, long and thin and he did a great job. Took a bit of time but the results were nice, and it only cost me a case of beer. They look like new and it was well worth the time and effort.

Not knowing how much rim is gone, I have fixed rims be welding peaces out of old truck rims in to replace the rusted out part.
