Hi all: I recently purchased a new home and it has a Massey Harris Fuerguson TO-35 with a loader. It is a sick tractor. When I started working on it I first found the starter was shot, the coil had died, and it wouldn't start. Both starter and coil have been replaced. My question is this, it now runs but only for a short period and then dies, unless I pull the choke out and then it will cough and sputter and keep running for a while longer. If I try to use it under any load it almost always quits. I found the air clearner was completely choked with mud/oil mixture, and cleaned that out, as I thought it acted like it was short of air, but that is not the problem. One final question. The adjusting valve on the carburetor (on the bottum towards the front of the tractor) seems to have no impact. When I got the tractor it was screwed wide open, I have adjusted it and get no change in operation unless I completely close it then the tractor quits. How should it be set? As you can tell I am not a great mechanic, I know just enough to be dangerous!!

Thanks

Had the same prob on my pony. Sounds like you need to take the carb off and clean it good. there are several small passages that need to be cleaned. Good luck.

I figured it might be the carb. That was my next step, get a rebuild kit.

Thanks
