My Father-in-law just passed away and he owned a Massey Harris Tractor - we are trying to identify what model / year etc. I have tried to match numbers but cant seem to find the ones that fit any of the lists I find - on the left frame it says 8500 46 M-1, can anyone please help - we are trying to decide its value and or whether to restore it and keep it - we know nothing about tractors - this one does run though.. thanks for any help, Kim

Help us out here a little more. What type of tractor is it? Is it a Standard, or a Rowcrop? Does it have narrow front or adjustable wide front? What size rear tires? Is the engine diesel or gas? 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder? Flat head or overhead valves? A lot of the older Massey Harris' had an oval ser.# plate on casting to the left of the clutch. The 33' had the ser.#plate on right side, just below brake pedal. Some had a ser.# stamped on the top transmission housing, just forward of the trans. access panel..... Look under the tractor just below the engine and clutch. Some Masseys had year of mfg cast into the chassis. If you can answer some of these question, we may be able to narrow it down
