Hi Ken -

The F140 number is consistent with the markings on a Continental F140 engine.

Hope this helps.

Jack Thanks for the info. It looks like someone put a model 22 engine in this model 81. Bigger is better right! Book I have says it should be a 124ci engine. If I can find out what year it is maybe that would explain it.

:Ken. You might have one of the 81's that was sold originally to burn distillate. They got the 140 engine. Someone may have switched fuel tanks so it's just straight gas now instead of having two tanks. Is there a possibility you've got an 82? They were also equipped with the 140. Tom.

I found a web page last nite that has serial #s for antique tractors and it showed that in 1941 the #s started at 425001 to 425678 and this tractor has # 425465 stamped into the top of the transmission. Were there any other ways to tell if it was a distillete tractor? I wonder how many were made this way? They hide #s anywhere else? You guys are a big help. Thanks Ken.
