Tom: Found that there were only 500 201's built in 1941-42, and they were all standard types. 242 Chrysler engines that apparently worked well enough but only had a 4 1/2 quart crankcase, so they had to be looked after. 444's were built from 56 to 58 and the numbers I came up with don't agree. One says there were 6244 of them built but the serial numbers go from 700001 to 77131, so if they were consecutive, there is a difference. Neither do they make any mention of what were standards and what were row-crops, high-crops, westerns, ricelands, etc. The first number you gave GISF71227 indicates a 1956 Gas Standard Foot Clutch, and the second one GISF77247 looks like the same again but that number is 136 past the last number given in the serial number list. If you are sure the second number on the second tractor is a seven, then the list I have must be wrong. If you find that number is other than a seven, 1956 went from 700001 to 73988, 1957 production from 73989 to 76999 and 1957 went from 77000 to 77131, here again IF the serial numbers are consecutive. Happy Hunting. Incidentally, the tractor I REALLY want is a Diesel 444 row crop with wide front and as many options as I can find on one. I rode on one at a friend's farm when I was 6, so I have been a little goofy about them ever since. Can't understand all these local guys going bats over the old green 2 bangers when the 444's were a far superior tractor, but there are also a hell of a lot more of them, too. Best Wishes. Tom. Call back here if I can do anything else.
