Jim,I bought a MF40 this past spring. Go to "Big Dean's" web site;www.aol.com/masseymechanic. He has a serial number listing that can help determine the date of the tractor. He really helped me on several questions I had. My tractor is a 68'diesel with a backhoe. I had to rebuild the motor and do some other minor work on it but it's doing great. Good luck. Davis
