The service manual that we were given when we bought our Pony is dated 1949, but the Pony is a 1952. Is the 1949 manual the only one there is, or was there a manual printed to go with each production year?

I have an undated parts list that covers years 1947-1955 that shows changes made and the year the changes were made. This book is very handy especially if a person owns several Ponys.

My book covers chassis, electrical, and engine.

I went to the book shelf, and pulled the binder for the 52 Pony.
There were 2 books that came with the tractor, 650 097 M4 Illustrated repair Parts List 1952 Blue cover Motor and Accessories
650 534 M3 Operating and Service Instructions 1952 Green cover
650 097 M5 Illustrated Repair Parts List 1954
Grey cover Motor and Accessories
The Motor and Accessories books bear, on the front cover, a note "this cancells all previous lists"
Seperate pages were also printed for implements, such as the #40 dozer, first manufactured in 1950,
#650 638 M1, and #650 575 M1 Instructions for installing #40 Dozer on the Pony, printed in 1950
#650 524 M1 was a seperate set for installing lights on Pony tractor
#650 590 M2 Instructions for installing Hydraulic Lift Unit on Pony Tractors was printed September 1950
Massey seems to have updated the motor & accessories book every 2 years, although there doesn't seem to be much if any difference in the book. All accessories and implements came with printed information.
I guess this is an advantage of having owned the tractor since it was new.

Wow! I guess there is an advantage to being the original owner! :-) Thanks for taking the time to post that information - now we will know what to look for/ask for while we search the classifieds for a manual that matches our Pony. The one we were given when we bought it is pretty tattered and missing a few pages. Jim (my husband) is working on restoring the tractor - my share of the "work" is to get on the computer and try to find some help. He *loves* to tinker with other stuff, but not with computers! Oh well...makes me feel like a part of his Massey habit. Thanks again for the information.

I have a '52 "Operating and Servicing Instructions" manual for mine, so evidently there were different manuals for each year.

Thanks Gary -- that's good to know. Any ideas about where we could find one? I've looked at the "manuals" link from this website, but it doesn't list by year.

Just checked the link and noticed the same thing. I haven't heard about a lot of changes year to year in this model, so possibly there isn't much difference year to year. Possibly someone with a bit more knowledge could let us know.
