Hey folks:

Does anyone know anything about a Massey Ferguson Model 300 combine? I know this is a tractor discussion, but I'm getting desperate. I've got a line on one in mint condition with a Chrysler V6 gas engine, and I think it would be a good size for a small (say 20 acres) corn stand.

Thanks

Would anyone be able to tel me the different grain settings for this machine? I just bought one that is set up for oats but I don't have the book and I need to take off my barley.

It would be the perfect combine for you because it is small and has enough power to shell corn but really I think the best thing the little combines are for is to thresh fescue seed but The 300 will thresh or combine wheat, soybeans, and corn, and theres not really a difference in a gas or a diesel burner except a diesel will out last a gas burner. Well good luck in making your decision

Faber,
We also had a 300 gas in early days of farming. We found this machine to be a good runner. Had very little problems with it. Only problem I remember was replacing bearings for the variable speed drive pulley. The machine performed well. Hope this helps.

I purchased a 1963 300 in 1971 and ran it till 1982 while running 300 acres of mixed small grain (oats, barley and wheat) That machine also had a scour-klean on it and gave a good clean sample. No major problems and traded it for a J.D.3300 diesel with a cab (basically the same size machine). Incidently , those machines were made here in Ontario at Massey's Brantford plant which was opened in 1962-63 and closed in the early 1980's.

Hi
I own a Massey 300 combine. I bought it in the summer of 2002 at a local dealership. It has a v6 225 Chrysler gas engine. It runs real good. The combine itself is in decent shape and seems to operate. It is a 1965 model without a cab. They also offered a 4 cylinder diesel model. These are very small combines with 30 inch long cylinder. I bought mine to restore it in upcoming years if you would like to know certain things about it email me Because I can look it up in my manual and tell you.
