Good spark coming to all four plugs. Compression on all cylinders approximately 120 lbs per sq inch. But the mystery is cylinders 3 and 4 are not functioning. I can remove these two plug wires with no difference in engine performance or starting. Any ideas, please?

Had exactly the same problem with my to-30. Exactly the same symptoms. Found I had a broken valve spring. The valve wouldn't close and number three cylinder would compress over into number 4 really mesing up the compression check. It really stumped me until I pulled the valve cover. Ignition in either cylnder would fire over to the other which already had an open valve. Good luck !!

Hi Larry -

Defective spark plugs? I've had them looking good, but shorting to ground inside the steel body. Try swapping 3 & 4 with 1 & 2.

Blown intake gasket? Test - with engine running, turn a propane or acetylene torch on a bit (not lit) and feed the gas along the intake manifold near #3 & 4 cyls. If it smooths out, that's the problem.

That is good advice, sounds like someone who has been there.
