Getting the sleeves out of my Z134???

I have my Z134 stripped bare, and, I have tried for all I'm worth to get the sleeves out. I've tried beating them out from the bottom with a hammer and block of wood, that didn't move anything. I had to move the tractor which meant mounting the bare block back up, so, I got the bright idea of jacking the tactor up by the sleeve and beating it back down with the hammer. It only moved the #4 sleeve enough that you can tell it moved when I(190 lbs) jumped on the front axle. It seems to me that I'm gonna have to build a puller. Any other methods that might work? It's not really a big problem to make a puller, I have access to a lathe(it's within 10 feet of the tractor) but, the stock might not be easy to get ahold of.

Evan,
I built a puller out of an old piston and some all-thread, worked great, pulled all four sleeves in about 30 min. and did not destroy the sleeves! Good luck.

Do you have an arc welder? I assume you're replacing the sleeves. Run a good arc over the length of the sleeve in about 3 evenly spaced places. The rapidly expanding metal will crush any soft crust that could be holding the sleeve and the contracting metal (as it cools) will shrink the sleeve enough to pull it right out.

Makes you ashamed to think you were going to work to get them out.
