My hydrolic lift/3 point setup works great right when I start up the tractor but then starts to slowly fade out until it will barely come up at all. Any ideas ?

I have a MF35 that had the same problem, it has a screan type filter inside the trans on the left side of the pump that was pluged, I cleaned the filter, refiled with gear/hydraulic fluid & it worked well (the thiner fluid leaks by any failing seals faster)
good luck

I have a MF50 and the same problem. The local tractor man says the pump is either clogged (dirty) or worn out. Changed fluid but it really didn't help. Does the tractor have the right fluid? There is a good video about rebuilding the pump. Really need to do this someday.

Yeah it had gear oil in it and a Massey dealer told me to drain it all out, put about 5 gallons of Diesel fuel in it and run it for a few minutes and then drain it all out. I then put the Massey oil in it #1103. I was told to put the mineral oil #1103 in it but when I went to the Massey Dealer to get it, they told me it had been replaced with this other oil, but, it had the same part#. Does it hurt anything to leave it the way it is for now ? How much of an undertaking is it to rebuild the pump ? do you have to break down the entire backend of the tractor ?

I bought a video on how to rebuilt the pump. Does not look hard. The rebuild kit is fairly expensive. Rebuilt or new pumps are outragious. The video was $29.95. The two guys talk you through it without using a bunch of language you can't understand. Got the video from the suppliers list on this page. Lots luck.

I'm looking at a Massey 50 and the owner says that ocassionally the hydaulic pump makes a rattling sound. His machanic said that it was the pump and that it could go out today or maybe 10 years from now. How expensive is a rebuild or a replacement pump?
