Here is an easy question and I need easy answers. I need to replace the o-ring that seals the plate at the top of the vertical tube (the rectangular plate under the seat with a tube on it). Is the top o-ring anything special, or just buy one that fits from the corner hardware store?
Also, what kind of tranny fluid to use?
I don't know the year, but the ser # is 37111500/2. The # on the trans is 894682M4. On the rear end it is 897-719-M6.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi there,

There is an O-ring at the end of the tube, and I think it is the same O-ring under the cover too. Number for the O-ring at the tube is 195 561 M1
In some cases there is also a support ring at the end of the tube in the same groove as the O-ring sits. Number is 195 874
You can use regular O-rings, of the type you find at Auto stores or elsewhere. Just be sure they can withstand mineral oils.

Oil for the transmission is for MF 135 without Multi Power regular engine oil, SAE 40. Same type you use on engine of the tractor.

You can also use transmission fluid, and it is ok to use the type you use for bigger tractors with wet disc brakes too. I am currently working on that, to put a complete lubrication chart as a post here on the list.
Probably I will use Texaco and Shell, and then everyone has to ask for the equivalent oil they want to use.

List will come maybe later today for MF 35 and MF 65. MF 135 without Multipower use the same oil as MF 35.

We use standard o-rings "012" 3/8 x 1/2 x 1/16, and butter the plate LIGHTLY with silicone sealant.

Original Trans fluid is Massey Perma-Tran; we use Coop Trans-Hydraulic. Other brands wil
