Engine color

I have two friends that have a dispute about what color the engines were from the factory.Like on the 44's 101's 33's if they were gasoline,lp gas,or diesel were they different color blocks?If so what were they? Thank you for the reply. Dean east central Minn

A good rule of thumb for engine color: pre 1948: black, '48 and after: red. Some Military were green, industrial- yellow and dealer replacements were sometimes silver (alum). Hope this helps - ALAN

what about the copper colored engines like in the444 ? are they different between LP and GAS ? THANKS CHUCK
